Sri Lankan Overseas Licence Conversion Process

Step 1 – Complete the Road Law Knowledge Test (Computer test done online through your myVicRoads account)

This is an online test and can be done at home. The online test takes 4 to 6 hours to complete.

If you would like to complete the test in Sinhalese, this can be done at a VicRoads centre in person. You will need to make an appointment with VicRoads for this.

Step 2 – Book a Verification Appointment

This can be done at any VicRoads centre. It is best to get your licence verified as soon as possible to ensure there are no issues with the authenticity of the licence. You will need to pay a fee and take your evidence of identity documents with you.

What happens if VicRoads cannot verify my licence?

If VicRoads cannot verify your licence, then you will be advised to go to the Sri Lankan Consulate and have them verify the licence. In this case, you will need to wait for an email from VicRoads stating that the licence has been verified before booking a drive test appointment.

Step 3 – Hazard Perception Test (Computer test done online through your VicRoads account)

The Hazard Perception Test is done online through your myVicRoads account.

Step 4 – Drive Test

Once you have successfully completed steps 1 to 3, you may then complete a drive test. Before booking your drive test, call us on 04 1006 7479 to talk to our Overseas Licence Conversion Specialist so that we may guide to book the best possible appointment and select the right strategy to successfully obtain your Australian Drivers Licence.
